Jihostroj hosts BUDVA as Montenegro’s champions vie for spot in Playoffs 12
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, December 16, 2013. Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE will be playing on Wednesday their last match in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men as they host Montenegro’s Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA. This is a very important game for BUDVA who still have the chance to make the Playoffs 12 while Jihostroj is already eliminated from the competition and won’t even continue their campaign in the Challenge Round of the CEV Volleyball Cup.
The Czechs have been struggling with injuries lately; this weekend as they played Stare Mesto for the last round of the Czech Extraleague, they could not count on their setter Filip Habr and even their opposite Martin Pleva has been ill. They eventually could line up Jan Kuliha who also had just returned from injury. As they beat their opponents in straight sets, Jihostroj were well anchored by their setter Petr Zapletal. As for BUDVA, they count on the top players of Montenegro’s national team as well as on an excellent Italian setter, Marco Falaschi.
“We travelled to Stare Mesto to take three points from that game and we achieved our goal” says Jihostroj head coach Jan Svoboda. “It was not a very good game but the victory is what really matters in the end. Back home, we have started our preparations for the last CL game of the year with Budvanska Rivijera.”
