Serbian and Italian champions clash in CL fifth round
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women
Beograd, Serbia, December 9, 2013. Serbia’s and Italy’s champions Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD and RebecchiNMeccanica PIACENZA will be crossing their ways on Tuesday for the fifth round of action in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women. Crvena Zvezda lost the last couple of matches to Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia while the Italians are traveling in high spirits after edging twice their closest rival in the race for the Playoffs 12, Igtisadchi BAKU of Azerbaijan.
“We have a very demanding schedule right now with matches for the European Cups and in the national league” says Serbian mentor Ratko Pavlicevic. “Still we like it. PIACENZA is a very strong team and in my opinion the toughest opponent in our Pool. I think that they will surely make it to the Playoffs 12 and maybe also to the Final Four” he adds. “They are very well organized and have very experienced players. I hope we can play our best to please the home audience and we will leave our hearts out there on the court. In order to achieve this we must keep calm and cool.”
“In Piacenza we played our worst game so far this season and I hope that this time it will be much better. Physically, they are not much stronger than us but they play excellent Volleyball in attack and defense. We will try to surprise them” adds wing-spiker Nikolina Lukic.
