Belgium’s sensation Knack ROESELARE hosts Turkish rookie in fifth round
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Roeselare, Belgium, December 9, 2013. Knack ROESELARE is one of five teams who have an immaculate record of four victories in as many matches played so far in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. On Tuesday they will try to prolong their winning streak and secure their leadership in Pool G as they host Turkey’s rookies Galatasaray FXTCR ISTANBUL, a team that is ranked at the bottom of the charts with zero points after four rounds. Last weekend Galatasaray lost the derby with their archrivals Fenerbahce in straight sets and their Cuban spiker Henry Bell has also left the club after suffering a serious injury.
This means that the task for Knack shall be within their reach and the home heroes just got ready for their last CL home match of the prelims by routing VDK GENT in straight sets in the national league. Knack will be able to count also on Ruben Van Hirtum and Tomas Rousseaux who have recovered from their respective injuries. Youngster Arno Van De Velde also played a good game with GENT and so the team looks more than ready for the upcoming match with Galatasaray. About 200-250 Turkish fans shall find their way to the Schiervelde sports hall which shall be sold-out on Tuesday evening. Those who could not get a ticket will be able to follow the game live on TV (OP12-Sporza).
“We will start our preparations from scratch as if this was our first game with Galatasaray this season” says Knack head coach Emile Rousseaux. “We know we have basically booked a spot for the Playoffs 12 after our away victory from last week in Poland but we need to win once more also on Tuesday because if we finish first in the Pool we will get a better draw for the Playoffs.”
