Tauron MKS makes it to national league final for first time in history
News from the clubs
Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, April 16, 2013. Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA did write history this past weekend by qualifying for the final of Poland’s national league after winning the semifinal series with Aluprof BIELSKO-BIALA (3-1). That result is even more valuable since the last couple of wins (3:0 and 3:1) were claimed by Tauron MKS in away matches played in Bielsko-Biala. The club from southern Poland has never gone that far in the national league and will be waiting for the winner of the clash starring Bank BPS Fakro MUSZYNA and Atom Trefl SOPOT – the series stands at 2:2 – to know the name of their opponents for the Championship series.
Tauron MKS started out the third semifinal match by easily claiming the first set (25-17) and as Aluprof was evidently struggling in defense, DABROWA GORNICZA could ultimately go for a well-deserved win in straight sets. “We are very happy with this win. We registered a very high rate of efficiency in attack and we are looking forward to the next match. I hope we will make it to the final but we know it won’t be easy” head coach Waldemar Kawka said after that game.
Aluprof caught a flying start in the next round cashing the opening set and the players of Tauron needed some time to calm down and find back the right composure which they did thereby pocketing the next three sets and a spot in the final of the national league. “We started the game quite bad because we could not stand the aggressive attitude shown by our opponents” team captain Magdalena Sliwa says. “However, I have to congratulate my team because they could find their way back into the game. Every single girl who joined the game helped us make it to the final. The changes made by our head coach had a clear impact on the final result” she concludes.
