Finnish sensation LP SALO goes for another mission impossible
2013 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women
Salo, Finland, March 1, 2013. Finland’s LP SALO – the very first club from this country able to make it to the semis of the European Cups – will be playing on Saturday Dinamo KRASNODAR of Russia for the second semifinal fixture of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women. This past Tuesday Dinamo cruised to a comfortable 3:0 home win (25-6, 25-20, and 25-18) but their US American superstar and Olympic silver medalist Destinee Hooker does not take anything for granted.
“Every single game in this competition is very challenging, that’s why it’s called Challenge Cup” Hooker says with a smile. “We will approach the return game the same way we did in Russia because you can’t relax and you shall always expect the unexpected. LP SALO may be even more motivated than before after they lost the first match in Russia”.
LP SALO head coach Kari Raatikainen stresses the importance of focus and determination for his side. “I believe that if we play a little smoother than we did in Krasnodar, we may stand a chance with Dinamo. We could win at least one set or even go for something more”.
LP SALO can count on good figures when it comes to the home matches they have played since their first appearance in the European Cups: the Finns have indeed scored 11 wins out of 14 games so far.
