LP SALO attempts to write history for Finnish Volleyball
2013 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women
Salo, Finland, February 11, 2013. Though they lost (1:3) last week to their opponents from Ukraine, the players of LP SALO are still hoping they can write history by turning into Finland’s first club capable of making to the semis of the European Cups. In order to achieve this feat, they will first have to beat Khimik YUZHNY in the return match coming up on Thursday for the 1/4 finals of the CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup and then claim also the eventual golden set.
LP SALO team captain Kaisa Jokinen feels confident: “The first leg in Ukraine confirmed that we are capable of stand such high-quality opponent. I believe that we are super-charged and we will all play our best on Thursday. We need a top performance to seize the night but I think this is within our reach”. LP SALO played on Saturday its last domestic game before the clash with Khimik YUZHNY besting their opponents from Rovaniemi in straight sets.
“Our opponents played two good sets in Ukraine and we still want to score a second win to avoid the golden set” Khimik mentor Sergei Holotov says.
