Tauron MKS libero Krystyna Strasz reflects on European campaign
News from the clubs
Dabrowa Gornicza, Poland, January 26, 2013. Tauron MKS DABROWA GORNICZA bid farewell to this year’s European Cups by performing well in their last match against Turkey’s Fenerbahce SK ISTANBUL. “Volleyball is a game where you always make mistakes and the players from Turkey were definitely better than us” says libero Krystyna Strasz (pictured).
After finishing third in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League, Tauron MKS was moved to the Challenge Round of the CEV Volleyball Cup but there crossed its way with the most dangerous opponent of all, namely Fenerbahce SK ISTANBUL. After a poor performance in the away match, the players of Tauron MKS performed much better on home soil playing on equal terms with such a strong opponent and even seeing the possibility to call for the golden set. “We had our chances but in the first set we were a little bit slow. We realized that and we wanted to compensate for this slow start but we couldn’t” adds Strasz. “We fought the best we could and anyway playing with some of the best teams in Europe will certainly help us for the remainder of the season. I hope this experience will turn into a valuable help for our campaign in the national league” she concludes.
