ACH Volley prolongs its supremacy in domestic competitions by winning national cup

Ljubljana, Slovenia, January 10, 2013. ACH Volley LJUBLJANA remains the undisputed dominant force in Slovenia’s domestic competitions as the team from the capital city claimed its eight national cup title, and seventh consecutive, after winning 3:0 (27-25, 25-22, and 25-23) against Salonit Anhovo KANAL in this year's final.
The final four of the Slovenian cup was played in a small sports hall in Mozirje, which was full of supporters on both days of the tournament. It was a real festival of Slovenian Volleyball and a good promotion for the sport as the matches offered a lot of entertainment.
ACH Volley’s opponent in the semi-final was OK MARIBOR, a team coached by former national player Sebastjan Škorc. The guys from Maribor hoped to surprise the favorites and put up a good fight, but in the end ACH Volley cruised past in straight sets (25-12, 25-17, and 25-14). The second semi-final starring Calcit KAMNIK that similarly to ACH Volley also plays in the European Cups and Salonit Anhovo was a real thriller. Calcit KAMNIK was already up 2:0 in sets, but Salonit Anhovo managed to turn the match around and claim a spot for the final.
Despite the clear 3:0 win in the final, ACH Volley had to show its best performance to regain the title. Team captain Andrej Flajs was also awarded MVP of the tournament.
