Generali UNTERHACHING continues love-affair with German Cup
News from the clubs
Munich, Germany, December 30, 2012. Generali UNTERHACHING continues its special relationship with the German Cup. For the fifth year in a row the Bavarians reached the final of their favorite competition. After celebrating a 3:0 win against evivo DÜREN (25-19, 25-21, and 25-22) in their semifinal (see picture) they will be playing MOERSER SC for the last and deciding act coming up this March in Halle/Westfalen. The final will be a remake of the 2009 clash whereby UNTERHACHING won the first of three consecutive German Cups.
About 1’200 spectators at Generali Sportarena attended a good match by UNTERHACHING that after missing out on the Playoffs 12 in the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League will continue its European campaign in the Challenge Round of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Cup playing Andreoli LATINA of Italy. Although DÜREN grabbed a lead in the middle of sets two and three, the host raised their game at crunch-time and made the big points.
The only down moment came in the first set when captain Christian Dünnes hurt his foot. “I will probably have to rest for two weeks”, Dünnes said after the game. That won’t be too much of a problem, for the next game for UNTERHACHING will only be played on January 16. Despite the convincing win against DÜREN Generali has to find ways of improvement, as was reflected by middle blocker Matias Raymaekers. “We played below our normal level. But it was enough. We are in the final, and we want to win it” the Belgian said. However, head coach Mihai Paduretu was not amused by his team. “We’re happy to be in the final, but we must play better if we want to win the championship this year. That performance was not enough, also not for the Cup final”.
