TOURS VB loses last home match as Zaksa finds way to Playoffs 12
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Tours, France, December 12, 2012. Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE of Poland completed its run in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Men by edging TOURS VB of France with the score of 3:1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-23, and 25-21). With this result, claimed as 2’400 spectators were in attendance at “Robert Grenon” sports hall, Zaksa qualified for the Playoffs 12 of Europe’s most elitist competition.
The first set was extremely tight but the hosts of TOURS VB were able to bring it home via the great contribution of their US American middle blocker David Smith. However, the remainder of the match was fully controlled by Zaksa. The guests cruised to the front (13:7) in the second set anchored by their opposite Antonin Rouzier as well as by Luis Felipe Fonteles while TOURS VB major attacking force, David Konecny, was simply lacking efficiency (only 38%). A neck-to-neck race followed in the third set where TOURS VB outside hitter Kamil Baranek finalized quite many actions, but still the Poles could pocket the final 25-23 after thirty minutes of great play. Konecny was replaced by Soané Falafala in set 4 and even though this young guy performed pretty well, he also could not stop Zaksa and TOURS VB eventually had to accept a 1:3 home defeat.
