Macerata, Italy, December 10, 2012. Even though they suffered their first defeat this past week in Ljubljana to ACH Volley, Italy’s Lube Banca Marche MACERATA still remains on top of the charts in prelim Pool D of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League and will have to take just one point from its last match with Euphony ASSE-LENNIK to pocket its pass to the Playoffs 12.
“We will do our best to seize the night because if you finish first in the group you’ll get a better draw for the Playoffs 12” says head coach Alberto Giuliani, whose side is struggling a bit after a few key players got injured. Cristian Savani and Jiri Kovar will be out for some more months but MACERATA hopes Serbian opposite Sasa Starovic will be able to join the game with LENNIK even though he has suffered some pain on his knee for the last couple of weeks. “We absolutely need the contribution of every single player because the priority remains to finish first in our Pool” concludes the Italian mentor.
