Last home act for Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK against underdog of the group
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Novosibirsk, Russia, December 10, 2012. After suffering this past week its first defeat in Pool B to Germany’s BERLIN Recycling Volleys, Russia’s Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK will complete its run in the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League by playing host on Wednesday to Budvanska Rivijera BUDVA of Montenegro.
The guests are traveling to Siberia after scoring their first win in the group by edging – at the tie-break – Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE this past Wednesday while Lokomotiv – although they lost to BERLIN – is still the leader of the Pool with 12 points after five rounds.
Lokomotiv is also ranked first in the current standings of the Russian Superleague with a streak of seven consecutive victories, the last scored this weekend over Yaroslavich YAROSLAVL.
“Since this is the last match of the prelims, this clash is extremely important for our team” says head coach Andrey Voronkov. “We want to deliver a great performance to the delight of our fans while our opponent has got nothing to lose. They will be extremely motivated as they come to Siberia after claiming their first win in the group” he adds.
“Last week’s match in Berlin was a good lesson for us” stresses setter Alexander Butko, an Olympic gold medalist in London. “We know we always have to perform our best in every game”.
