Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO goes for sixth win to round out memorable campaign
2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Men
Cuneo, Italy, December 7, 2012. Italy’s Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO will try to finish its campaign in Pool G of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League with an immaculate record while hosting this coming Wednesday Romania’s Remat ZALAU for the last round of preliminary action.
Remat ZALAU is currently ranked at the bottom of the standings in the Pool with one point resulting from the 2:3 defeat suffered to France’s Arago de SETE. As for CUNEO, the guys captained by Wout Wijsmans got another boost of energy in Sète as they downed the local heroes in straight sets on Thursday. In Romania CUNEO scored a 3:0 win needing only 84 minutes to cruise past Remat ZALAU and so it looks like Bre Banca Lannutti could finish the prelims with another positive result.
“We have secured the first place in our group via this away win France” says CUNEO general manager Marco Pistolesi. “This is very important to get a good draw for the next phase, namely the Playoffs 12. I am particularly satisfied with the performance of some players who are not always included in the starting six, so this match was a good way to get a good result for the standings and motivate our players. We look forward to the last match and the next phase as the CEV Volleyball Champions League remains our priority for this season” he adds.
Back from France, there was no time for CUNEO to resume training as a very important match of the national league against Lube Banca Marche MACERATA is coming up this weekend.
