2004 Tomis CONSTANTA retain their title in Romania's national league
News from the clubs
Constanta, Romania, April 25, 2012. In what was a remake of last year’s finals, 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA claimed the 2011/2012 Romanian national league after pocketing the Championship series against the archrivals of Stiinta BACAU with three straight wins. The club, which was founded only seven years ago, re-asserted its supremacy retaining the crown it had already seized last year.
Club President Cristian Zgarbecea was absolutely delighted with this result: “The girls have provided our city and the people living in the region of Constanta with a unique joy. It was a very busy year highlighted also by our good European campaign as we eventually advanced to the semifinals of the CEV Volleyball Cup”.
“The three matches we played with Stiinta BACAU were absolutely exhausting” added head coach Darko Zakoc. “It was a tremendous fight especially as Stiinta wanted to get the crown back after six years. I want to congratulate all players and thank all sponsors and fans from Constanta as their support means a lot to the team” stressed the Serbian-born mentor.
The domestic season is not finished yet as 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA will be vying for some more glory in a couple of weeks as the national cup will be at stake while being confronted with a strong starting field including all of Romania’s top teams.
