Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD returns to the top of Serbia's Volleyball

Beograd, Serbia, April 16, 2012. Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD was crowned Serbia’s champion for the eighth time in history after edging Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD in the Championship series of the men’s Superleague sponsored by Wiener Städtische by scoring three consecutive wins there. The guys in red and white jerseys dominated the scene also in the last match played in front of 2’000 fans at “SPC Vojvodina” sports hall in Novi Sad by downing their opponents in straight sets (25-11, 25-18, and 25-21) after 75 minutes of play. Crvena Zvezda tops again the charts of the Serbian league after a break of 4 years.
The trophy for the winning team was presented to the captain of Crvena Zvezda, Mihajlo Mitic, by Mr. Goran Cato, President of the association that regroups all clubs competing in Serbia’s first division. Mitic received also a special check for 1.1 million RSD (around 10’000 €) by Mr. Nenad Jovanovic, member of the management of the Wiener Städtische insurance group, the title sponsor of Serbia’s Superleague.
The team captain of Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD, Andrija Geric, a long-time member of Serbia’s national team and an Olympic champion in Sydney, was awarded the trophy for the second-ranked team by Ms. Ana Avramovic, Vice President of the Association representing all of Serbia’s first division clubs.
