Downed by PGE Skra in Playoffs, Politechnika is still confident for Challenge Cup finals
News from the clubs
Warszawa, Poland, March 23, 2012. Politechnika WARSZAWSKA recently lost three matches to PGE Skra BELCHATOW – the silver medalists from this year’s CEV Volleyball Champions League – and hence did not qualify for the semis of the PlusLiga being relegated to the series whereby the teams will be classified from places 5 to 8.
Even though Politechnika could not seize any set, at home or in Belchatow, still the team fought bravely against the star-studded group captained by Mariusz Wlazly. “I do not think that the final of the Challenge Cup did influence the quality of our play” says captain Marcin Nowak, “but anyway starting from this moment we will devote our concentration exclusively to the first game with Tytan AZS CZESTOCHOWA coming up next Tuesday here in Warsaw. It is evidently the most important match of the season and we will be ready, physically and mentally, to make another step forward in our campaign to claim the trophy”.
“We know that PGE Skra has much more experience than we do and they always play great Volleyball. We know their value and so I think we cannot be too disappointed for having lost these three matches” adds libero Damian Wojtaszek.
Some days are left before the finals of the Challenge Cup and after some rest the players from Poland’s capital city will resume training on Saturday.
