VK Modranska PROSTEJOV wants to qualify once again for Playoffs 12
2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women
Prostejov, Czech Republic, November 14, 2011. As they participate in Europe’s most elitist competition for the third consecutive year, the Czechs of VK Modranska PROSTEJOV do not hide their ambition to make it once again to the Playoffs 12, actually this year to the 8th finals as the formula was slightly revised this past July after the final four was assigned to the city of Baku before the start of the competition.
“Last year we were able to beat MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE and RC CANNES in the prelims, i.e. very strong clubs from Italy and France. In the Playoffs 12 we claimed our home match against Rabita BAKU that eventually finished the competition in second place, so such great results can only contribute very high expectations also for the upcoming season” states club President Petr Chytil. “This is a big challenge but we want to make it to the Playoffs once again; it won’t be easy as we have been assigned to a very difficult Pool but it still remains our purpose”.
The team has not changed much in comparison with last year, as three players – Ssuschke, Novakova and Bramborova – have left Prostejov but three more have been added to the roster, namely Monzoni, Smak and Horka. “I think the real favorite of our Pool is Dinamo KAZAN, but we have two additional strong opponents in Atom Trefl SOPOT and Volero ZÜRICH” comments head coach Miroslav Cada. “This is a very tough Pool and it won’t be that easy to advance to the next phase of the competition. Anyway we’ll fight and play at our best to achieve this goal” he adds.
“Like two years ago we have a very difficult group but by that time we also managed to make it through. Dinamo KAZAN, Russia’s champion, is very strong and the clear-cut favorite of the Pool. We will fight for the second and third position at stake for the Playoffs with Atom Trefl and Volero. I think we have our own chances and we’ll finally qualify for the 8th finals” concludes Monika Smak.
