RC CANNES is ready to embark on Champions League adventure
News from the clubs
Cannes, France, November 11, 2011. A special press conference was held this past Tuesday in the VIP room of the “Palais des Victoires” to celebrate the kick-off of the campaign that France’s RC CANNES is ready to embark on in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League.
Club President Anny Courtade addressed the journalists by first recalling the roster of the team for the 2011/2012 season. RC CANNES is composed by a real mix of young and already well-known players. Those retained from last year are Amadea Durakovic, Milena Rasic, Anja Spasojevic and Ana Antonijevic of Serbia; Nadia Centoni (Italy) and France’s Alexandra Fomina, Victoria Ravva, Jelena Lozancic and Laurianne Delabarre. On the other hand RC CANNES has signed Sophie Peron, Italian stellar libero Paola Cardullo and Ukrainian spiker Tetyana Kozlova.
The goal shared by Chinese-born head coach Yan Fang is to qualify for the final four scheduled for late March 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The home matches for the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League are scheduled for November 30 – against Italy’s MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE -, December 15 – with SCHWERINER SC of Germany – and for January 11 against Turkey’s Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL.
Anny Courtade stressed that the participation in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Europe’s most elitist competition – is extremely important for RC CANNES and great matches will be taking place at the “Palais des Victoires” to the delight of the local fans.
