Thessaloniki, Greece, October 15, 2011. Only a few days before the home match against Noliko MAASEIK for the first round of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League, Iraklis opened the national league by claiming the derby with Aris Marmouris 3:2 (25-20, 16-25, 26-24, 23-25, 15-8).
The guys mentored by Sotirios Drikos opened the game with great momentum but did not maintain that same rhythm in set 2. Many mistakes in reception paved the way for Aris that was also playing with good consistency in attack. Iraklis was then helped by the foreign players signed for this season with Latvian Ansis Medenis scoring 13 points. However, Constantinos Christofidelis topped the charts of the best scorers for Iraklis with 15.
The next match for the national league is scheduled for October 22 against Apollon Kalamarias, some 3 days after the Champions League game with Noliko.
