Arkas IZMIR expects massive audience for its home matches
News from the clubs

Izmir, Turkey, October 13, 2011. Arkas IZMIR will be participating for the second time in history in the elitist CEV Volleyball Champions League and their campaign will start next week with a home match against Bulgaria’s CSKA SOFIA. Arkas was assigned by the DOL staged this past July 1 in Vienna to Pool A which includes also Noliko MAASEIK of Belgium and Iraklis THESSALONIKI. “We will be playing three strong teams that have pretty much experience in this competition” says Canadian-born head coach Glenn Hoag.
“There will be a tough battle to finish first and second in the group and advance to the Playoffs. Every single match is important and our goal is to make it through the first round” he continues. Hoag was joined in a press conference specifically devoted to the start of the Champions League by team captain Bülent Kandemir and Brazilian receiver João Paulo Pereira Bravo.   “This is the second participation in the Champions League for Arkas IZMIR” adds Kandemir, “and this time we are confident we have the skills and potential to go for a good result”.
Mr. Ergun Yasar, who is working closely with the team, concludes: “Our fans will be accompanying us along this journey. The Halkapinar sports hall has a capacity of about 10’000 people and I expect that some six or seven thousands supporters will be attending our home matches”.
