Zaksa can't wait for start of Champions League
News from the clubs
Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Poland, October 11, 2011. “We will not start thinking about our first opponent in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League before this coming Sunday” says the captain of Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE Sebastian Swiderski (pictured). “We will play Partizan Termoelektro and this will be the last stop of a real Volleyball marathon as we are playing twice a week, this is a pretty good rhythm” he stresses.
Zaksa is back in Europe’s most elitist competition after a break of 8 years with their last participation having ended up in a third place as the Polish guys defeated PARIS Volley in straight sets back in 2003 as the final four was held in Milano.
As they are about to play Trefl GDANSK and Asseco Resovia RZESZOW for the national league, the team from Silesia will be missing captain Swiderski who is nursing an injury and will have to be replaced by Guillaume Samica.
Ukrainian middle blocker Jurij Gladyr is also not 100% fit and his position will be occupied by Wojtek Kazmierczak. “He is a very experienced player and he already played well against Skra BELCHATOW” says head coach Krzysztof Stelmach.
“We expect to be sold-out for the home match against Partizan” concludes club President Kazimierz Pietrzyk. “Our fans can’t wait to see the best Volleyball teams in Europe in action”.
