Remat ZALAU fires up engines for second Champions League campaign
News from the clubs
Zalau, Romania, October 6, 2011. Some two weeks before the first match in the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League, Romania’s Remat ZALAU organized a press conference to officially open its second consecutive campaign in Europe’s most elitist competition.
Liviu Ciupe and Radu Căpîlnaşiu, the Presidents of Remat ZALAU, Cristian Ciobănescu (Club Responsible), Doru Ţârle (Manager) and Adela Mureşan (Press Officer) invited the local media to a brief presentation of this season’s goals. Head coach Mariusz Sordyl, the captain of the team, Zoltan Mozer, and local hero, libero Adrian Feher, also joined the event in an attempt to encourage the fans of the team and to assert that this year’s campaign will be far better than the previous one.
After winning two consecutive champion crowns in the Romanian national league and having joined the 2011 edition, Remat ZALAU is ready to participate again in the most elitist Volleyball competition worldwide. But unfortunately for the fans from Zalau, the team is constrained to hold the home matches in Baia Mare (a city located nearby), due to the fact that the local sports hall is being renewed.
However, Liviu Ciupe, the President of Remat ZALAU, seemed optimistic in spite of all changes that have been made. “I believe this won’t be a problem for us” he said. “We have to concentrate on playing some spectacular games, as we all want to offer a quality show to the interested public”.
Although Remat has notable opponents, last year’s runner-up Zenit KAZAN of Russia, German champion VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN and Belgium’s sensation Euphony ASSE-LENNIK, the team is ready to face the challenge. “We have strong opponents, but we have been working a lot and we believe in our goal, so I have a feeling that we will be able to fight and to win. We will do our best” stated Mariusz Sordyl, the head coach of Remat ZALAU.
Captain Zoltan Mozer was quite positive as well regarding this Champions League campaign: “We feel great together, our team works very well and we also have a very good coach. We really want to win”.
The Co-President of Remat, Radu Căpîlnaşiu, who is also the Mayor of Zalau, concluded that “Remat ZALAU aims to become a Volleyball power in the future and we will do everything that we can to achieve great results”. Of course, besides the strong will, big dreams, skilled players and good results, the fans have always been an important ingredient for success. That’s the reason why the team invites supporters from Zalau, Baia Mare and even from other parts of Romania to join them in a spectacular Volleyball experience.
