Sistem9 Yesilyurt claims first round of all-Turkish #CEVChallengeCupW semi-final

Istanbul, Turkey, March 2, 2021. On Tuesday afternoon, Sistem9 Yesilyurt claimed the first round of the much-anticipated Turkish derby with THY ISTANBUL in the semis of the women’s CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup 2021, edging their city rivals 3-2 (29-31, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 15-10) at the end of an incredibly close match.
Alexia Ioana Carutasu (pictured, #14) amassed an amazing tally of 47 points from Sistem9 Yesilyurt, while Madison Kingdon Rishel scored 23 and Ebrar Karakurt contributed with 16 for THY ISTANBUL.
The all-important re-match will be taking place on Wednesday afternoon at 5 pm local time at Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall, with live broadcasting available on TRT Spor-2. The eventual winners of the Turkish derby will be playing Romania’s C.S.M. Volei Alba BLAJ or 1. MCM-Diamant KAPOSVAR of Hungary in the final.
