Luxembourg, September 28, 2020. The CEV Champions League Volley Men 2021 is back in action after a few days break following the completion of Pools A to C, with the Pool D tournament kicking off in Bleiburg, Austria, at the Jufa Arena, with the match between Neftochimik Burgas and SK Zadruga AICH/DOB, played yesterday evening.
The three teams competing in Pool D for a place in the next round of the CEV Champions League Volley are SK Zadruga AICH/DOB (AUT), Neftochimik Burgas (BUL) and Dinamo Moscow (RUS).
Neftochimik Burgas vs SK Zadruga Aich/DOB 1-3 (22-25, 19-25, 25-16, 20-25)
- It was a tight affair in the first match of Pool D, with both sides realising the importance of a win at this point. Despite being considered the underdogs by many before the match, SK Zadruga AICH/DOB managed an impressive performance that keeps them in contention for a place in the next round.
- Matthew Cole Passalent from AICH/DOB was named match MVP after a performance that saw him scoring 16 points.
- Sports Manager Martin MICHEU, SK Zadruga AICH/DOB: “It is unbelievable that our young and newly-arranged team could win the kick-off match of POOL D against the Bulgarian champion this evening. We were able to write history here at the JUFA Arena in Bleiburg. I am absolutely proud of our rookies and hope that we can carry on likewise on Tuesday when encountering the Russian heavyweight Dinamo Moscow, against which we can play without any pressure since we have already achieved more than expected!"
