News from the National Federations

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, November 29, 2019. The leaders of the National Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. President Mr Izet Radjo, Vice-Presidents Mr Marijan Kvesic and Mr Sinisa Kisic, and Secretary General Mr Said Fazlagic recently had a high profile meeting with representatives of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The focus was on the preparations for the Final Round of the 2020 U19 Women’s European Championship that the Balkan country is due to co-host together with their friends and neighbours from Croatia.

President Mr Alija Fatic, Vice-President Mr Milutin Popovic, Secretary General Mr Adnan Talic and Technical Secretary Mr Dino Beciragic represented the Volleyball family at the meeting.
The President of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina informed the Olympic Committee that his organisation, together with the Croatian Volleyball Federation, will host the 2020 edition of the U19 Women’s European Championship from August 20 to September 2, 2020. The competition will feature the top 12 national teams in Europe, and part of the group stage matches, as well as the semis and medal matches will be taking place at the iconic Zenica Arena.

Mr Radjo expressed his satisfaction that Bosnia and Herzegovina will host such an important competition, and expressed his readiness for the National Olympic Committee to assist the Volleyball Federation within its capabilities and competencies.

Moreover, President Radjo pointed out that in the past the Olympic Committee and the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina developed an excellent cooperation in the implementation of projects such as ‘Technical courses for coaches’ and ‘Development of a national sports structure’. The NOC President shared insights into a new project designed by the Olympic Committee, which aims at helping the Olympic sports federations in the organisation of national competitions and with the provision of sports equipment.

The leaders of the Olympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina wished good luck to the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in their preparations for the historic event coming up in the summer of 2020. Previously, the Balkan country co-hosted – together with Serbia – the Final Round of the U18 Men’s European Championship in 2013, with matches held in the city of Laktaši.
