Romania chase spot in Silver #EuroLeagueW Finals

Nicosia, Cyprus, June 18, 2019. The pool phase of the CEV Women’s European Silver League ends on Tuesday night when Cyprus host Romania in Nicosia in a match initially planned for the second round of the competition but postponed due to Cyprus’ participation in the Games of the Small States of Europe at that time. It is a key match especially for Romania, who need a victory in order to secure first place in the pool ahead of Israel and play Slovenia in the finals of the competition.

Cyprus have already achieved a historic result in their first participation in the Silver League, with two wins from their matches with Georgia. They have secured third place in Pool A and on Tuesday, their primary goal will be to finish the competition in style. However, this is a difficult task to accomplish, since Cyprus lost 0-3 last Wednesday to Romania when playing away from home. Cyprus started their specific preparations for the match on Monday, with coach Ioannis Nikolakis counting now on Katerina Zakchaiou, who did not travel to Israel last weekend.
