Olympiacos and BURSA BBSK to lock horns in #CEVChallengeCupW finals
2018 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women
Piraeus, Greece, April 3, 2018. The Melina Merkouri sports hall in Rentis played host on Tuesday to a press conference held only 24 hours away from the first matchup between Olympiacos SFP PIRAEUS and titleholders BURSA BBSK of Turkey, as these sides lock horns with the 2018 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women crown at stake. It is a repeat of last year’s final with BURSA BBSK vying for their third title in four years in this competition.
Branko Kovacevic, head coach of Olympiacos: “I would like to welcome BURSA BBSK to Greece. We have developed a good relationship with this club in the last two years. We faced them four times last year, twice in friendly matches and twice in the Challenge Cup Final. All the games were just as competitive with the two teams playing high-quality Volleyball and I am sure that the level will be similar this year. Maybe, it is an advantage for us that we changed our roster less than they did. We have done a good scouting, collected important information and I do not think that we will face any surprise. Everything plays a crucial role in the final and every kind of details will be important during the match.”
Georgia Lamprousi, player of Olympiacos: “We are very happy to be in the Challenge Cup final for the second consecutive year. The tickets are sold out and we are looking forward to enjoying a great atmosphere. We are well prepared to take the first step towards seizing the title when playing at home. We had some ups and downs in Europe this year and I think that the level of the Greek league does not help us much. However, we have changed the course of many matches in the Challenge Cup. I hope that we will do well in the away match as well since we are well prepared.”
Angelo Vercesi, head coach of BURSA BBSK: “We are happy to be in the final and to play against a very good team. These two teams deserve to be in the final. I hope that the crowd will enjoy the games and I would like to wish good luck to both teams.”
Nilay Özdemir Karaagac, player of BURSA BBSK: “We are happy to be here. When the season started, our goal was to play in the final and we are happy with the achievement of this goal. Olympiacos is a team with remarkable fighting spirit and I am sure that there will be two very competitive games between two good teams. Although I was not in the club last year, the experience from 2017 will help us too. Everyone in the club talks about Olympiacos and the unique atmosphere that their fans create.”
