Belgium mentor receives Fair Play Award at Women's EuroVolley
2013 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Women

Berlin, Germany, September 15, 2013. On Saturday, right before the start of the medal ceremony, a special award was presented to Belgium head coach Gert Vande Broek. This was not simply due to the fact that his team had won a European medal for the first time in history. Actually this was more to follow up on the “Fair Play. Volleyball Way” campaign whose launch dates back to this past July in Vienna.
In this effort to draw the attention of fans, media and partners alike to fair play and its meaning for Volleyball, the CEV was joined by Germany’s Ministry of the Interior that every year awards a similar prize to athletes and other sports personalities. The award sponsored by Germany’s Minister of the Interior Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich was presented to Vande Broek by Germany’s Fair Play Ambassador and Paralympic champion, table-tennis player Rainer Schmidt.
The mentor of Belgium national team did not stand out only for the great results claimed by his players but also as a role model for his demeanor and exemplary behavior.
