UYBA and Dinamo KAZAN ready for CEV Cup ‘grand finale’
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women
Busto Arsizio, Italy, April 14, 2017. On Saturday, Palayamamay will host the ‘grand finale’ of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women featuring hosts Unet Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO and Russia’s Dinamo KAZAN. The team captains and respective coaches spoke on the eve of the ‘big match’ after a few days ago Dinamo KAZAN claimed the first round on Russian soil (3-1). UYBA will be trying to use the home-court advantage to seize the third title in the competition after they stood on top of the pile in 2010 and 2012.
Dinamo KAZAN star player Elitsa Vasileva, who top scored on Tuesday night with 26 points: “After we won 3-1 at home, we ‘only’ have to take two sets tomorrow. However, we should not be too relaxed because the local fans will play an important role in the performance of Unet Yamamay. I think that the team making fewer mistakes will win in the end.”
Alexander Perepelkin, assistant coach of Dinamo KAZAN: “Tomorrow’s game will be difficult, as much as it was the one we played in Kazan. We had some very good moments there but we also had luck in some other circumstances.”
UYBA team captain Giulia Pisani: “I think that we started the first match very nervous, but we played better and better as the game progressed. Tomorrow we expect another battle. We play at home and our fans will be there to support us. Everything is still to be decided. We have to serve well and we will not repeat the same mistakes we made in the first match.”
Home coach Marco Mencarelli: “Back from Russia we used some time to regenerate and get back physical energy while trying to work on some different tactics. I do not think that the number of mistakes will be crucial tomorrow. Our best games this season were not those where we made fewer errors. We have to take risks when and where needed.”
