“Ladybirds” against “Tiger Sharks” in CEV Cup quarterfinals
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women

Kazan, Russia, March 6, 2017. On Tuesday, March 7, Dinamo KAZAN will play their first match in the quarterfinals of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women against Vizura BEOGRAD of Serbia at Saint Petersburg Volleyball Centre.

The experienced players of Dinamo KAZAN easily made it through the previous rounds of the competition and did not drop a set in the four matches they played against VK UP OLOMOUC of the Czech Republic and ZOK Bimal-Jedinstvo BRČKO of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Actually, Dinamo’s opponents were not able to score 20 points in any of the sets they contested. Despite all this, Dinamo are preparing very carefully for the matchup with Vizura.

Vizura started their journey in the 2017 European Cups edging Estonia’s KOHILA VC in the second round of the CEV Volleyball Champions League before losing to Russia’s Dinamo KRASNODAR in the third round. After moving to the CEV Cup, they beat Khimik YUZHNY of Ukraine 3-2 to secure their spot in the quarterfinals.

The Serbian team consists mainly of young players, and many of them are still teenagers. However, they are three-time champions of Serbia, and they go by the nickname of “Tiger Sharks”. The black and white stripes on their shirts recall the colours of that predator. Now Vizura will play Russia’s five-time champions Dinamo KAZAN – whose mascot is a ladybird. So the question is there: Are the young “Sharks” good and hungry enough to pose a threat to the very experienced Russian “Ladybirds”?
