RC CANNES set the bar high for re-match with Budowlani
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women

Cannes, France, February 20, 2017. RC CANNES will play against Budowlani ŁÓDŹ from Poland this Wednesday, February 22 at 20:00 CET in the second round of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women 8th Finals, in an attempt to make amends for the 3-0 loss they suffered two weeks ago away from home.

“The profile of Budowlani is quite similar to NANTES VB, a team against whom we lost at the tiebreak last weekend,” analyses RC CANNES head coach Laurent Tillie. “It’s a very physical and tall team (probably close to 190 cm on average), so their attacks are very powerful and their block is very high. Moreover, their Belgian opposite Kaja Grobelna is an outstanding player, who requires particular attention.”

“On paper, our challenge is quite clear: we need a clear victory. On the court, it might be not as easy. If we want to have a chance to qualify to the next round, we will have to play the whole game as well as we did in the first two sets of the first match in Poland, which ended 25-20 and 26-24 for our opponents. We will have to be patient and to put pressure on their receivers with our service. If we let them impose their own game, things may rapidly become rather difficult for us. It’s a big challenge for us, against a big team,” concludes the French coach.

Krystyna Mackulewicz, a former professional Polish player (130 caps) who spent a significant part of her career in France and was the coach of RC CANNES youth teams for more than 20 years, will kick-off the game.
