BEZIERS VB cruise to away victory over TS Volley DUEDINGEN
2017 CEV Volleyball Cup - Women

Fribourg, Switzerland, January 11, 2017. BEZIERS VB of France cruised on Wednesday night to a 3-1 away victory over Switzerland’s TS Volley DUEDINGEN (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 28-26) in their first matchup on schedule for the 16th Finals of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup – Women.

The spectators in attendance at St. Leonhardhalle in Fribourg were literally standing on their feet to cheer the home side on but the French team coached by Cyril Ong eventually came out on top to travel home with three points from this opening round.

TS Volley DUEDINGEN delivered a very solid performance in the first set but starting from the second BEZIERS VB stepped up their efforts, especially with the help of their only 17-year-old opposite Isabelle Haak, who ended up scoring as many as 32 points on her own. As BEZIERS VB put more and more pressure, the hosts made some mistakes, which eventually cost them the match. Anchored by Chantale Riddle who scored 27 points, the Swiss team were nevertheless able to find a way through the French block by means of their fast attacks and they literally fought until the end.

TS Volley DUEDINGEN even had set ball in the fourth set but Haak cashed the fourth match point for BEZIERS VB to seal a 3-1 victory for her team and get an edge ahead of the remake due to take place on January 24 in France.
