Four equally strong, motivated teams chasing Treviso title
2017 CEV Volleyball Champions League - Women

Treviso, Italy, April 21, 2017. Four teams – just equally as ambitious and determined – are about to take to the court in Treviso for the very last act of this year’s CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women. Imoco Volley CONEGLIANO, Dinamo MOSCOW, VakifBank and Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL are about to deliver a major showdown – and at the end of the weekend we will get to know the name of the new ‘queens’ of European Volleyball.

“Since we host the Final Four, we skipped the Playoffs and made it straight to the final stage of the competition,” said Imoco Volley head coach Davide Mazzanti. “As a result, even though we know that three powerhouses have travelled to Treviso and we are aware of the big challenge that lies ahead, we are motivated to show that we deserve our spot among the top four teams in Europe. We will be trying to achieve this feat by delivering a couple of classy performances in our matches this weekend.”

Team captain Serena Ortolani – who is also Mazzanti’s wife – added: “I really hope all Italian Volleyball fans will be supporting us, because this final is a major happening not only for our club but for the whole of our Volleyball family as well. We should have fun while playing and at the same time show our determination. That should be our winning mix.”

“This is the sixth Final Four that I have been to in the last seven years and for me it is the closest,” said VakifBank ISTANBUL head coach Giovanni Guidetti. “Usually there is a favourite team and a slightly weaker team, but this time they are all on the same level.  It will come down to certain moments and I hope we will be there at the end.”

“The team is feeling good, the atmosphere in the team is good. We know we have a chance and we have to take advantage of this. Matches of this level are usually decided by small things and there are many players on both sides that can find solutions. It will be a tough match and after we will see,” said Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL head coach Massimo Barbolini, who will be chasing in Treviso his third Champions League title with a third different team – after the titles he won with Colussi Sirio PERUGIA in 2006 and Pomì CASALMAGGIORE last year.
