Tours, France, March 28, 2017. In a hot atmosphere, TOURS VB won 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21) in the first leg of the 2017 CEV Volleyball Cup semi-final against United Volleys RHEINMAIN. As the scorelines suggest, each set was relatively close and fairly similar so things are set up for an exciting return leg later this week.
With a more experimented team, the gold medal winners from the 2005 edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions League stood out across the court and didn’t grant more than the slightest opportunity of the German team taking a set back home.
The French team from Tours showed expertise, imagination and patience throughout the match and Czech opposite David Konecny, author of 17 points and best scorer of the match, showed himself as much more hard-hitting than his German opponents on this occasion.
The Libero from Tours, Hubert Henno, commented after the game: “To win at home like this in front of our great public, it is truly great.”
TOURS VB made a big step to another European final, nevertheless there is an important meeting: it is the away match planned on Saturday, April 1st in Frankfurt, where the French team will try to write the second chapter of their semi-final story.
