Iceland host SCD Men’s Finals, Luxembourg aim at retaining their crown
2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship - Men
Reykjavik, Iceland, May 10, 2017. The final stage of the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Men Small Countries Division (SCD) will take place in Reykjavík this coming weekend and run in the Icelandic capital from May 12 to 14.
There are four teams – Iceland, Luxembourg, Cyprus and Northern Ireland – chasing the top honours in the competition. One of two qualifiers to the SCD Finals took place in Luxembourg in May last year. Luxembourg won both their matches to finish on top of the pool, with Northern Ireland finishing second, leaving the Faroe Islands in third and last place, thus not qualifying for the finals.
Pool B, on the other hand, took place in Iceland in May 2016 as well. Cyprus won all three matches finishing first and Iceland followed in second. Scotland and Andorra did not qualify after coming in third and fourth place in the pool, respectively.
The opening match of the SCD Men’s Finals will be between Northern Ireland and Cyprus, taking place on May 12 at 17:30 local time before hosts Iceland play 2015 gold medal winners Luxembourg (pictured).
