C.S.M. BUCURESTI claim Romania’s first European Cup title!
2016 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women
Trabzon, Turkey, April 3, 2016. C.S.M. BUCURESTI completed their fabulous run in the 2016 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women claiming also the re-match of their fixture with Turkey’s TRABZON Idman Ocagi 3-1 (25-23, 25-13, 20-25, 25-20) to celebrate Romania’s first European Cup title in history!
C.S.M. BUCURESTI had laid the foundations of their historic success last Wednesday when they claimed a 3-1 home win in their first matchup with rookies TRABZON, a team that had qualified for this year’s European Cups only after topping the podium of the 2015 BVA Cup.
On Sunday the team from Romania’s capital upset 1,500 Turkish fans who were hoping TRABZON could use the home advantage to turn the odds and follow in the footsteps of their compatriots BURSA BBSK who had claimed the Challenge Cup crown in 2015.
Though TRABZON Idman Ocagi put on a fight and imposed their rule in the third set, nothing could prevent C.S.M. BUCURESTI from capping their fabulous campaign with yet another win propelled by 19 and 14 points scored by their star players Jasna Majstorovic and Roxana Bacsis.
