Serbian superstars reflect on unforgettable #EuroVolleyW campaign
News from the National Federations

Belgrade, Serbia, October 16, 2017. It has been two weeks since Serbia claimed their second continental crown in Baku – and the emotions are still running high. Serbia were the standout side of the 2017 women’s EuroVolley, and they contributed to the Dream Team of the tournament with as many as three players, including MVP Tijana Boskovic.

“I cannot express my feelings yet, I think that we are not aware of what we all achieved at this year’s EuroVolley. It is definitely an enormous success, and it is overwhelming for me as well to leave the grand stage with an individual recognition,” said outside spiker Brankica Mihajlovic, who will spend the 2017-2018 season in Japan playing for JT Marvelous.

“The final match with the Netherlands was pretty much normal for us because we are used to playing such kind of big matches. We played very well, but to finish the competition with only two sets lost is incredible. We have been together for years now, we know each other well, and this is the result of our hard work, and commitment. After taking silver from the Rio Olympics and bronze in the 2017 edition of the FIVB World Grand Prix, we finally made it and finished on top of the podium. For me personally it is very emotional to get an individual award, too,” said middle blocker Stefana Veljkovic, who will participate in the 2018 edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions League with Poland’s Chemik POLICE.

“An individual award is something that gives every player an additional motivation to keep up with the good work. I am happy for it and I will continue to grow as athlete,” said Tijana Boskovic who will spend another year in Turkey with Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL.
