Hungary hope for historic success in European League Finals with Turkey
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Women

Érd, Hungary, September 10, 2015. After recording two consecutive victories in their semi-final matches with Greece, Hungary progressed to the final stage of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League – Women. The first round of the Finals with titleholder Turkey is set to be contested on Thursday night in Érd, right in the outskirts of Budapest, before the remake follows on Sunday, September 13, in Izmir.

Only 24 hours away from the home match with Turkey, a press conference was organised in Budapest and the President of the Hungarian Volleyball Federation, Mr Zsolt Ludvig, had the chance to address the media alongside the national team’s head coach Jan De Brandt and local star players Dora Horvath and Edina Dobi.

“The qualification to the European League Finals is definitely the greatest success we have achieved since years,” Mr Ludvig said. “And it has been confirmed that if we win this competition, next year we will get the right to enter the Group 3 of the FIVB World Grand Prix.”

“The finals of the European League are another good practice ahead of the European Championship coming up later this month,” said head coach Jan De Brandt. “I am confident that we will be able to win the upcoming matches with Turkey,” he added.

“The finals will be a lot different than any previous match in this competition,” said home star Dora Horvath. “We have won seven matches in a row and we continue our preparations for the European Championship,” she added referring to the women’s EuroVolley coming up later this month in The Netherlands and Belgium where Hungary will be making their first appearance since 1987.

“I am hoping for many fans to come to the arena and to support us, this way they will be helping us in our effort to perform at the best of our abilities,” Edina Dobi stressed. “We have a good team and all players can perform at the same, great level,” she concluded.
