Former Y.R. of Macedonia vie for first points after disappointing European League start
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Men

Skopje, Former Y.R. of Macedonia, July 17, 2015. After losing twice to Estonia last week, the men’s national team of the Former Y.R. of Macedonia will be making their home debut this weekend in Skopje when they host Israel and quite evidently the hosts will be chasing their first points in the 2015 edition of the CEV Volleyball European League. After catching such shaky start in Estonia, the players around Zarko Ristoski will try to clean up their minds and to focus exclusively on the double header with Israel coming up on Saturday and Sunday.

“If we play only 20% better than we did in our second match with Estonia, I think that we won’t have any problems to get some points from our upcoming matches with Israel,” Ristoski says. “We know Israel and their way of playing very well but everything depends on us. We need to dictate the tempo of the game and if this happens and works just fine, nothing can stop us,” he adds.

“Last week we played one good match and the other one was bad, but in the end we came back home with zero points,” says team captain Nikola Gjorgiev. “So right now it is important that we take six points from these matches. It does not matter what the result will be in the end, as victory is our only option at this stage. We are about to play six ‘finals’ at home and we must stick together if we want to achieve our goal, which is to sweep all of our home matches in this competition.”
