Clash of two European League Pool A unbeaten teams coming up soon in Pärnu
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Men

Pärnu, Estonia, July 15, 2015. After defeating the Former Y.R. of Macedonia twice in the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League – Men this past weekend, the Estonian national team players are now preparing to meet with Poland in their nation’s summer capital Pärnu. The two matches with the young heirs of the 2014 world champions will be taking place later this week on July 17 and 18.

“If you watch the way we performed in our matches from last week with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, I think we can look quite optimistically towards the clashes with Poland,” says outside spiker Keith Pupart. In the coming club season he and Robert Täht will move to Poland to play for Cuprum LUBIN under the guidance of Gheorghe Cretu (pictured) who is also the current mentor of the Estonian men’s national team.

Poland’s roster for the European League includes one player from that same team. It is opposite Szymon Romac. Next season outside spiker Wojciech Wlodarczyk will also join the ranks of the team that last season made their debut in the elite PlusLiga finishing in seventh place.

“To me it is not important who our opponent is. My goal is to focus on our game and then we take it week by week and see how good our opponents are,” Cretu said about the upcoming matches with Poland.

Poland and Estonia have crossed their ways on the international stage five times. Though Poland have claimed four of these matchups, the game played on May 25, 2008 before a sell-out crowd at Audentes sports hall remains one of the most memorable ones in Estonia’s Volleyball history. Back then Estonia beat Poland 3:2 and this way qualified for the first time ever for the Final Round of the CEV Volleyball European Championship.
