Denmark’s men ready for European League dream opener against Poland
2015 CEV Volleyball European League - Men

Copenhagen, Denmark, June 30, 2015. Since Denmark and Poland co-hosted the 2013 CEV VELUX Volleyball European Championship – Men, it has been a dream for Denmark’s mentor, Mikael Trolle, to play against Poland’s national team. The dream becomes a reality in the first leg of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League which is coming up this weekend in the city of Slagelse.

After a month of preparation it is finally time for the first matches in this year’s CEV Volleyball European League for Denmark. The Danes will welcome Poland for two home matches coming up on Saturday and Sunday in the city of Slagelse.

And the coach of Denmark, Mikael Trolle, is looking extra forward to the exciting opener.

“Ever since we co-hosted the CEV VELUX Volleyball European Championship in 2013 I have been dreaming of a match against Poland. There are so many good players in the Polish roster that they won the FIVB World Championship last year,” says Mikael Trolle and continues: “As we saw at the European Games in Baku, Poland have so many top-level players that they are able to put together at least two top teams. It will be very exciting to see which players will come to Denmark,” he adds.

Denmark has played friendly matches against Switzerland and Latvia to prepare for their debut in the 2015 CEV Volleyball European League.

“We will do our very best to match the Polish team, but we know it will be a very hard task. The guys have been working hard to be ready for these matches, and I feel we are where we should be,” says Mikael Trolle.

Denmark faces Poland, Estonia, the F.Y.R. of Macedonia and Austria in the European League Pool A.

“You just have to have one look at the pool composition to realise the difficult task that lies ahead. We will do our best to obtain the best possible position in the final standing of the pool and then we must see if this is enough for a spot in the Final Four,” says Mikael Trolle.

“We will take one match and one opponent at a time. For this first assignment against Poland we hope to have a great crowd cheering for us on home soil. That will definitely be an experience to witness a match against Poland.”

It is the fourth year in a row that Denmark play in the CEV Volleyball European League.
