Szczecin, Poland, April 5, 2015. Malgorzata Glinka-Mogentale is playing in her sixth Champions League Final Four, but has hinted this might be her last. The experienced Polish star is playing for the host team of Chemik POLICE in Szczecin and today she will try to add the bronze medal of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women to her trophy collection in a match against Turkey’s VakifBank ISTANBUL.
“For sure, the main reason for our loss to Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO was lack of rhythm matches on a high level,” said Glinka after Chemik lost its semifinal match on Saturday referring to the fact that the Polish side did not have to play in the playoff stage of the competition. “What is more, there are a lot of young and inexperienced players in our team. Maybe it is too difficult for them to play under pressure. I can realize that it is a very emotional moment for them. Even for me, who is playing in the Final Four for the sixth time, it is hard to keep calm.”
“The Italian team was much better than us. We tried to fight in the second set, but Unendo Yamamay is a well-organized team, with good reception and defence system. What we needed to win? The same that the Italians had! We did not use the fact that for the Italian team the participation in the Final Four means big stress too. At the beginning, it seemed to be a balanced game, but then everything changed. I felt very good on the court. The most important thing is to enjoy the game,” added Maggie.
“This season Chemik lost the final of the Polish Cup and now could not make it to the final of the Champions League. But Chemik has another goal – to win again the OrlenLiga. I hope we will win some trophy this season, because we are hungry for success and I think that this is my last Final Four,” Chemik’s star concluded.
