2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Men
Luxembourg/Berlin, Germany, April 15, 2015. It’s now almost three weeks since Germany’s ‘Volleyball Temple’ – the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin – played host to the Final Four tournament of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men. The organisers delivered a terrific show on and off the court and you can now re-live the most exciting and memorable moments of the Volleyball party of the year with a highlight clip which is available right here on the CEV YouTube channel!
The weekend started with an emotional opening ceremony which set the tone for what was going to follow, with a very tense and dramatic first semi-final where Russia’s Zenit KAZAN was able to edge past hosts BERLIN Recycling Volleys before Asseco Resovia RZESZOW claimed the highly anticipated Polish derby with PGE Skra BELCHATOW.
More than 9,000 fans were in attendance also on the final day of the Final Four – thereby setting an all-time record for a Volleyball competition held at the Max-Schmeling-Halle – as the home heroes of BERLIN Recycling Volleys crowned their home campaign with a historic bronze medal after a battle with PGE Skra BELCHATOW that lasted for five sets before Zenit KAZAN added another chapter to Russia’s supremacy in Europe’s elite competition by cruising to a 3:0 victory over RZESZOW in the final match.

The Russian ‘armada’ celebrated in Berlin their third victory in the competition – after topping the charts in 2008 and 2012 – and seventh in total for teams from their country since the CEV Volleyball Champions League was established back in the 2000-2001 season. It was also Russia’s fourth consecutive title after Zenit KAZAN, Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK and Belogorie BELGOROD had finished atop the podium in 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively. Zenit KAZAN also got the right to represent Europe at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship due to take place on October 27-November 1 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
