Luxembourg, February 13, 2015. One day after volleyball fans took their dose of women’s Stars in Motion videos, it is the men’s turn to be in the spotlight on Friday, after their first Playoffs 12 leg of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League was completed on late Thursday evening. A new set of four breath-taking highlight clips, featuring the cream of the courts around Europe this week, has already been released on CEV’s YouTube channel.
Osmany Juantorena is the big star of this leg. His phenomenal performance for Turkey’s Halkbank ANKARA, contributing to a great victory over the incumbent champion Belogorie BELGOROD from Russia, did not remain unnoticed, so the Cuban-born player is featured both as the One to Watch and as one of the outside spikers in this leg’s Dream Team of the Week. The magnificent seven also include setter Alexander Butko and middle blocker Artem Volvich from Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK, middle blocker Piotr Nowakowski and libero Krzysztof Ignaczak from Asseco Resovia RZESZOW, outside spiker Facundo Conte from PGE Skra BELCHATOW and opposite Aleksandar Atanasijevic from Sir Safety PERUGIA.
Atanasijevic was the guy who made a spectacular back-row finish to the very long and exciting rally in the third part of the thrilling five-setter at JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel, which was selected on the top of the Top 5 Most Amazing Rallies of this leg. On the other hand, the Top 5 Most Spectacular Net Actions were signed off by Lokomotiv’s Oreol Camejo, VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN’s Maarten Van Garderen, Sir Safety’s Christian Fromm, Belogorie’s Sergey Tetyukhin and Zenit KAZAN’s Wilfredo Leon.
