Warsaw, Poland, July 9, 2014. The last matches of the 2014 CEV Volleyball European League - Women's League Round are set take place this weekend. In Pool B, Poland will take on Spain in two home matches on Friday and Saturday to be held in Koszalin.
Both teams have the same number of five wins and five losses each under their belts. However, the Spanish team is placed second in the pool’s current standings with its 16 points, while Poland is third with 14 points.
The teams already met in the second leg of the League Round and Poland won both of those matches by 3:1 at Spain. Unlike that time, however, Poland will be coming into this weekend’s games after two hard losses against Germany, which beat the white-and-red team to zero in both of last weekend’s bouts in Oldenburg.
The Polish fans would like to see their home favorites motivated by those defeats and while the advantage of playing in their own yard will be on the side of coach Piotr Makowski’s players, the question of their mental toughness is yet to be answered, as is their motivation – Poland is already out of contention for the European League final and will be focusing on preparation for the upcoming FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix.
The first of the two Poland vs. Spain matches will start at 20:00 local time on Friday, July 11, and will be streamed live on LAOLA1.tv. The second is scheduled for 24 hours later.
