Slovenia’s men aim at European League gold
2014 CEV Volleyball European League - Men

Ljubljana, Slovenia, June 6, 2014.  Just a few days after the successful completion of the 2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship qualifications, in which Slovenia secured a spot in the next qualification round, head coach Luka Slabe gathered his players again in order to start the preparations for the 2014 CEV Volleyball European League - Men.

The Slovenian men’s team will play in this year’s edition of the European League after finishing with bronze in 2011 and then missing out the following two seasons.  It will be part of Pool B along with Austria, Denmark, FYR of Macedonia and Turkey.

This year, head coach Luka Slabe has high ambitions:  “We have a great opportunity now to qualify for the FIVB World League in this year’s competition.  Our goal therefore is to win the European League and play among the best teams in the world next year.”

Team captain Tine Urnaut also shares this ambition.  “We want to win the competition,” he confirms.

Slovenia’s team will start its European League campaign with two away matches against Denmark on June 10 and 11.  Although the Danes finished their qualification pool in the last fourth place, Slabe stresses:  “This does not mean anything.  We still have to be prepared to play against them as well as against other opponents in our pool.”

The Wednesday game will be televised on Kanal Sport as well as online on LAOLA1.tv.
