General meeting anticipates thrilling second stage of EuroVolley
2015 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Women

Rotterdam, Netherlands, September 29, 2015. As the 2015 CEV DELA Volleyball European Championship – Women closed the preliminary pool round and the competition now moves on to the most exciting stages, CEV officials and organisers gathered in Rotterdam on Tuesday to review the progress of the event thus far and to anticipate the preparations for the next phases of the thrilling 2015 EuroVolley.

After three spectacular days of competition, 12 teams earned the ticket to the playoffs and quarterfinals and live now with expectation the last stages of the tournament to decide the new queens of European Volleyball. The preliminary pool round, which was held in the venues of Antwerp, Apeldoorn, Eindhoven and Rotterdam successfully came to an end thus leaving memorable moments for fans, participants and organisers alike.

“I would like to congratulate the organisers for the excellent work that they have done so far and for the success that they have achieved in the four venues,” declared Jury President and CEV Vice President Jan Hronek. “In Apeldoorn and Antwerp, the sports halls were completely full during the three days of competition, the ambience was excellent, and the entertainment was truly remarkable. Also in Eindhoven and Rotterdam the organisation was exceptional, even if the local teams were not playing there,” added Mr. Hronek, who had words of appreciation for the two venues that ended their journey in the event, Apeldoorn and Eindhoven. An impressive tally of 27,500 spectators attended the matches in Apeldoorn, as 21.607 fans witnessed the journey of the teams in Antwerp. No less than 4,000 Volleyball enthusiasts participated in the event in Rotterdam and Eindhoven.

The action transfers now to Rotterdam and Antwerp, where the decisive upcoming matches will be celebrated. While the Lotto Arena in Antwerp will continue offering the sensational setting for the games in the Belgian side of the tournament, the clashes for glory in the forthcoming stages on Dutch soil will take place in the splendid Sportpaleis Ahoy of Rotterdam.

The Volleyball frenzy will now take over the colossal sports hall in the Dutch city, where the passionate local fans will have the opportunity to follow the progress of the local heroines. In fact, 60% of the tickets for the next matches of the competition in Sportpaleis Ahoy is already sold, whereas the Lotto Arena in Antwerp will most likely present the same outstanding full house of the previous days. “I am sure that the tournament will continue with the same level of success also in the next days and I am confident that we will live moments of great Volleyball,” Mr Hronek concluded.
