VakifBank confident ahead of second game with rookies Igtisadchi
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Istanbul, Turkey, January 20, 2014. After routing their opponents in straight sets last week, VakifBank ISTANBUL will be hosting on Wednesday rookies Igtisadchi BAKU for the second round of action in the Playoffs 12 of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women.
The club world champions and winners of the 2013 edition of Europe’s elite club competition have swept six consecutive matches in the prelims where they got past Atom Trefl SOPOT, GENT Dames and Dinamo Romprest BUCURESTI, before prolonging their winning streak in Baku with another straight victory over Igtisadchi. On Wednesday they will have to take only two sets from their re-match with the rookies from Azerbaijan so as to progress to the Playoffs 6. If they make it through, VakifBank will then play the winner of the clash starring RC CANNES of France and their compatriots of Galatasaray Daikin ISTANBUL.

“We know our strength and we want to win again” says VakifBank head coach Giovanni Guidetti. “We have got the right edge after beating our opponents last week in Baku. The second match will nevertheless determine the final outcome of this clash. It does not matter if you play at home or away; our opponents have nothing to lose and will push us to our limits.”

Team captain Gözde Sonsirma Kirdar adds: “We will play a very important game with Igtisadchi. We could win the first match in Baku but we need to beat them once more to make the next round. We invite all of our supporters to cheer on us on Wednesday.”
