Italian champions PIACENZA edge Dinamo MOSCOW to claim first place in Pool B
2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League - Women

Piacenza, Italy, December 17, 2013. Italy’s champions RebecchiNMeccanica PIACENZA completed their duties in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women with a superb performance whereby they edged Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia 3:1 (25-21, 25-23, 18-25, and 25-18) to claim first place in Pool B and get a better draw for the start of the Playoffs 12. This was the fifth straight victory for the Italian rookies in the competition after they had started their campaign in late October losing their away game with Dinamo.
PIACENZA showed excellent consistency in their play and fully deserved this home victory where four of their players finished the game in double digits. Lucia Bosetti top scored with 15 points, Floortje Meijners followed with 14, while Lise Van Hecke and Robin de Kruijf chipped in with 12 and 11 respectively. Tatiana Kosheleva and Ekaterina Krivets paced Dinamo with 19 and 11.
The guests from Russia caught a very good start and set the pace of the game with a margin of five points by the second technical time-out of the opening set (11:16). However, the hosts were able to stand the pressure and with Bosetti on fire, they flipped the charts around (18:17) after an 8-1 break. They stepped up the quality of their game and eventually the players mentored by Gianni Caprara closed the set at 25-21.
The second set followed a similar story with Dinamo off to a very good start (5:8) before the hosts got back control of the game though with the slimmest margin by the time the second technical break was called (16:15). Meijners and de Kruijf were those who helped PIACENZA break away and in the end the hosts sealed the 25-23 that meant a 2:0 lead in sets.
Once more Dinamo started off strong also in the third set (8:11, 9:13) and even though Rebecchi could cut their deficit to a minimum (13:14), this time the Russians did not make any easy mistake and called for the fourth set (18-25).
PIACENZA bounced back in the opening of the fourth set with a terrific 6-0 but Dinamo responded by claiming five straight points (6:5). However, the home side showed excellent Volleyball to comfortably lead the way at the second technical time-out (16:11) and everything was just easy then for PIACENZA that quickly sailed to the final 25-18 for a 3:1 home victory to cap an already memorable campaign in the League Round.
