Istanbul, Turkey, December 16, 2013. Some weeks ago Turkey’s standout Galatasaray Daikin ISTANBUL opened their campaign in the prelims of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Women losing at the tie-break to Prosecco Doc-Imoco CONEGLIANO at the Palaverde in Treviso. These teams will be crossing their ways once more on Tuesday for the last round of the prelims to determine who finishes first and second respectively in Pool E after they booked their ticket to the Playoffs 12 last week.
CONEGLIANO claimed the game in Italy but after that Galatasaray scored four straight wins beating twice Azeryol BAKU as well as last year’s bronze medallists Unendo Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO. They also beat Eczacibasi VitrA in the last round of their national league and hope to stretch their winning streak also with CONEGLIANO so to get a better draw for the Playoffs 12.
“Since the start of the season we have improved a lot” says Galatasaray head coach Massimo Barbolini. “Of course we want to finish the League Round with another victory and after that we’ll start thinking about the Playoffs. There are some tough matches waiting for us.”
